A plant with the perennial charm of broom and the beauty of its processing and different uses are at the centre of the workshop project conceived and promoted by Eurocoop Jungi Mundu, in collaboration with the Municipality of Camini and Italea, which from 9 to 13 July 2024 will offer participants the opportunity of a highly educational experience in a multicultural environment under the guidance of master Giuliano Ienco.

A unique opportunity to rediscover ancient craft traditions and techniques. The centuries-old enchantment of the yellow flowers of the broom, which adorn our landscapes from May to August, has inspired this journey to rediscover an art that still speaks the language of productivity and possible development.

During the workshop, which is open to all, participants will learn the traditional techniques of broom processing in a multicultural setting typical of the Camini area, from the harvesting of this plant to its use in weaving, and each day will be enriched with food and wine and workshop experiences. All together with Camini residents, operators and beneficiaries of the reception project, to immerse themselves in the unspoilt nature but also participate in the cultural and social life of Camini. It starts with the harvesting of broom at Monte Stella and continues with its selection, boiling and maceration, followed by the 'peeling' and 'felling' of the broom, the 'carminatura', and concludes with spinning on the loom.

A technical conference on the use of broom will be held on the afternoon of 11 July. Pottery, ecoprinting, weaving, sewing and wood workshops will complete the scheduled activities. Lastly, on Saturday 13 July, at the conclusion of the workshop, at 9.30 p.m., in Piazza Municipio, the theatrical performance 'In via del tutto eccezionale' with Claudio Fidia, directed and dramatised by Alessandro Paschitto, will be staged.
