On 18 October 2025, at 5.30 p.m., the Palazzo della Cultura in Pizzo will host the fourth edition of the Jole Santelli Award, an event that celebrates the strength, passion and courage of women who contribute every day to the growth of Calabria and the country.
Conceived by Mariangela Preta, archaeologist and director of the Civic Museums of Pizzo and Soriano Calabro, the award pays tribute to Jole Santelli, the first female president of the Calabria Region, remembering her courage, determination and ability to inspire.
The evening, hosted by journalist Francesca Russo, will see the participation of sisters Paola and Roberta Santelli and the awarding of eight women who symbolise commitment and dedication in the fields of culture, science, art, journalism and social issues.
Among the winners of the 2025 edition are Rossella Agostino, Simona Lo Bianco, Sandra Savaglio, Anna Rotella, Giusy Versace, Maria Antonietta Spadorcia, Mariarosaria Russo and Marina Vercillo.
Each will receive a special award created by Spadafora Gioielli: a sculpture depicting transparent Calabria, symbolising the clear and authentic vision that Jole Santelli had of her homeland, embellished with an amethyst set on Pizzo and a silver 'J' embracing the entire region.
