It is under the banner of Latin jazz sounds that the concert scheduled for Friday 5 July 2024 at the venue Vecchio Mattatoio (Lamezia Terme) as part of the Jazz Today event, which has always successfully mixed world music.

Lametino pianist Egidio Ventura's line-up, formed by Andrea Brissa on double bass and Giovanni Caliò on drums, brings along an exceptional guest, Domenico Ammendola, who graduated in clarinet and jazz with top marks and honours from the 'F. Cilea' conservatory in Reggio Calabria. He won a scholarship to the Berklee college of music in Boston in 2010. In 2017, he released an album entitled Play with the Alfamusic label containing original compositions subsequently broadcast on Radio3, radio Cambridge, radio ros Brera. He has performed at numerous festivals such as Umbria jazz winter, Roccella jazz festival, Jazz locus in Borgia and played with various musicians such as Achille Succi, Nico Gori and many others.

The concert repertoire will focus mainly on the compositions of the famous musician Antonio Carlos Jobim, alternating between various standards revisited in a Latin key such as Caravan, Night in Tunisia and others. Lametino pianist Egidio Ventura will start a series of concerts this summer with the project 'Egidio Ventura Soa Jobim' and will be present at various festivals and jazz clubs in Calabria. The quartet is a formation that knows how to give Jobim's music its rightful sound dimension; with a considerable amount of technical and expressive information, with an extended and in-depth timbral vocabulary, which draws the audience towards those particular rhythmic scans and balanced colourings that Latin territories and sounds still maintain at the forefront of the contemporary music scene.

The Vecchio Mattatoio, a well-known venue, is a sort of laboratory where musicians of various extractions and backgrounds alternate, giving life to heterogeneous encounters and projects, which is offering opportunities and possibilities to musicians and an ever-growing and passionate audience. The concert on 5 July is free, reservations are appreciated.
