On 13 and 14 December 2025, Siderno and Roccella Ionica will host the fourth edition of the Gelsomini Film Festival, an event dedicated to arthouse cinema, civic engagement and the promotion of new talent.
The opening night, on Friday 13 December at 8 p.m. at the Cinema Nuovo in Siderno, will celebrate the career of Simona Cavallari, star of many Italian cinema and television hits, followed by a screening of Giulio Ancora's film 'Even', inspired by the story of Roberta Lanzino, with the director and cast in attendance. The evening will also feature a film forum on gender violence, with contributions from experts and local associations.
On Saturday 14 December, at the former Convent of the Minims in Roccella Ionica, the festival will screen and award prizes to the Calabrian short films in competition: 'Leggera', 'Laddove manchi', 'Amelia' and 'Velocità di fuga', judged by students from the Calabria Film School. The evening continues with the screening of the documentary film 'Cutro, Calabria, Italia' by Mimmo Calopresti, which recounts the tragedy of migrants in February 2023, with the participation of the director and local authorities.
The Gelsomini Film Festival thus confirms its identity as a major cultural event, capable of bringing together established authors, young talents and the local area, promoting cinema, memory and social reflection in Calabria.
