Filocastrum Fest
Filocastrum Fest in Limbadi on 9 August 2023.
Historical re-enactments
Regione Calabria
For some years now, one of the most successful tourist phenomena in Limbadi has been "Memory Tourism". In this direction, there is ample space for re-evocative initiatives aimed at enhancing places and satisfying the visitor's imagination. The history of Limbadi is grafted onto that of Motta Filocastro, seat of the ancient municipality.
This gave rise to Filocastrum Fest, which represents a truly unique opportunity to immerse oneself, almost as if by magic, in the magical atmosphere of the Middle Ages. Among the Norman knights who came to southern Italy during the first half of the 11th century, it is possible to come across numerous figures full of fascination for their courage and daring spirit and capable of memorable feats, but it is difficult to come across one as compelling and endowed with as much prestige as that of Roger I of Altavilla, the great count of Calabria and Sicily.
The event enhances the identity of Limbadi and its inhabitants. The event is full of activities including music and art. There will also be food stands featuring typical local products.
