The Filmare Festival is back, the event dedicated to cinema, the environment and culture, which will enliven the picturesque town of Praia a Mare on 11 and 12 July 2025 for its fifth edition.
Created to celebrate the link between audiovisual media and the sea, the festival is now a cultural observatory on the Mediterranean and its challenges, with meetings, exhibitions and screenings focusing on the themes of legality, sustainability and protection of the territory.
The event will be inaugurated by the focus “Legality and Environment” with the participation of the Public Prosecutor of Paola, Domenico Fiordalisi, in a public debate on justice and environmental responsibility.
Among the most eagerly awaited events:
- The exhibition “Il Villaggio della Natura” (The Village of Nature) curated by the Carabinieri Biodiversity Department of Cosenza.
- The underwater photography exhibition by Francesco Sesso.
- Scientific insights with ARPACAL and the University of Calabria.
- Evening screenings of the finalist short films with guests from the world of entertainment, including Sebastiano Somma.
On 12 July, there will also be a reflection on the sea as a resource and the value of the Blue Flag for the development of the Calabrian coast, with the participation of WWF, FEE Italia, regional institutions and historical figures in the field of dissemination such as Federico Fazzuoli.
The festival will conclude with the presentation of the Filmare Special Awards and the auteur review “Praia, a mare con...”, which will see the presentation of Marisa Manzini's book “Il coraggio di Rosa” (Rosa's Courage), with the participation of Massimo Giletti.
