Festival Cosmos

From 8 to 12 October 2025, Reggio Calabria will host a new edition of the Cosmos Festival, the international event dedicated to scientific dissemination promoted and organised by the Metropolitan City, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Astronomical Society.

For five days, the city will be transformed into a laboratory of ideas and knowledge, with scientists from the world's most prestigious universities and research centres meeting students, enthusiasts and citizens to share experiences and discoveries.

The Pythagoras Planetarium will be the beating heart of the festival, hosting training courses for students and numerous activities dedicated to sky observation and scientific exploration. The programme also includes the presentation of the Cosmos Award and the Cosmos Student Award, recognitions that promote the dissemination of science and the commitment of the younger generation.

During the festival, Palazzo Alvaro and the Aragonese Castle will host scientific workshops organised by the National Research Council and partner universities, while Piazza Italia will feature information stands run by organisations and institutions such as the Air Force, the Coast Guard, the National Institute of Astrophysics and Calabrian universities.

The calendar includes thematic meetings and in-depth discussions, such as the conference on the Juno observatory, the event 'The measurement of time, the role of Calabria' and the meeting 'Psychoanalysis of ChatGPT' at the National Archaeological Museum.

The festival will conclude on 12 October at the Francesco Cilea Theatre with the awards ceremony and the final concert 'The Sound of Pop' performed by the R.J.O. Orchestra, for celebrating the encounter between science, music and creativity.
