Feast of the Patron Saint - Santa Domenica V.M.

The feast of the patron saint, Santa Domenica V.M., will take place on 8 and 9 July 2023 in Torre di Ruggiero (CZ).

The patron saint's festival is a traditional event aimed at enhancing the religious, historical and folkloristic heritage of the Torrese community with a view to increasing the social cohesion of the population and attracting tourists by rediscovering ancient traditions and customs. It is a festival of great importance for the citizens of Torrese, especially for emigrants, who return to visit the village for the occasion, travelling from various European countries and overseas.

The municipal administration has planned festivities for 8 and 9 July, and has chosen to do so by hosting a professional Calabria native who, through popular music, will highlight the Calabrian musical tradition, the sounds and costumes that belong to our land, and re-propose the enchantment and popular games, ancient customs typical of the festivities. The location chosen for the event is the town's central square, Piazza del Popolo, which is also home to the Mother Church dedicated to Santa Domenica V.M. Everything will be surrounded by various gastronomic stands where the flavours of Calabria and the place can be tasted. Here, processes will be illustrated and practical demonstrations will be held to identify a particular handicraft production, in order to promote the local product.
