Feast of Santa Lucia

On 13 December 2024, the picturesque village of Santa Severina welcomes you to celebrate the traditional Feast of Santa Lucia, an event that combines faith, culture, food and wine and folklore, making it a special day for everyone.

The festival kicks off with the opening of the Santa Lucia market fair, where visitors can discover a selection of Calabrian handicrafts and taste typical local products, giving a taste of local traditions. In the heart of the village, food and wine stands and restaurants will offer typical dishes, with a traditional lunch featuring the cuisine of our territory.

In the afternoon, adults and children alike can enjoy popular games, while also participating in the market fair, a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the local culture. Religious traditions are intertwined with the folkloristic part of the festival, with the Eucharistic liturgy at the Church of Santa Lucia, followed by the exciting lighting of the Santa Lucia fire and the scenic representation of the Nativity.

The day ends with a folk concert, where traditional Calabrian music and songs fill the air with joy, while at 10pm the event closes with the distribution of Santa Lucia's wheat, a symbol of abundance and prosperity.

There will also be processions in historical costumes and experimental educational workshops, as well as guided tours to discover the monuments and fascinating history of Santa Severina.
