One of the most eagerly awaited and authentic events returns to Calabria this summer: DEAFest 2025 – Traditions Festival, the travelling festival that celebrates the culture, folk music and identity of the villages of the Gallico Valley, in the province of Reggio Calabria.
Launched in 2007 as a joint project between the municipalities of Calanna, Laganadi, Sant'Alessio in Aspromonte and Santo Stefano in Aspromonte, with the support of the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, the Festival takes its name from the acronym D.E.A. (Demo-Ethno-Anthropological), which expresses its deepest essence from the outset: to promote the roots, collective memories and traditions of the communities.
DEAFest is not just a music or folklore festival, but an experiential journey through villages, landscapes and languages of identity. It is a project that is renewed every year, keeping the memory of places alive and offering new food for thought and discovery. Once again this year, the Festival is an opportunity to reconnect with inland areas and rediscover the value of encounter, participation and sharing, in the spirit of a Calabria that looks to the future without forgetting its roots.
