Concert by the Schola Cantorum Officium

Everything is ready for the classic Christmas Concert that will take place on Friday 22 December 2023 at 6.30 p.m. in the splendid setting of Squillace's historic Cathedral.

The event is organised by the Programming and Tourism Department of the Municipality of Squillace, in the person of Councillor Franco Caccia, in collaboration with the Parish of Santa Maria Assunta and with the sponsorship of RWE Renewables Italia S.r.l., and is part of the programme of Christmas events organised by the municipality of Squillace, which bears the name 'Atmosfere di Natale' (Christmas Atmosphere).

Performing will be the Schola Cantorum Officium directed by Maestro Christian Cosentino, one of the most established polyphonic choirs in Calabria, which has been committed for years to the diffusion of choral singing throughout Italy and abroad, with the achievement of excellent results and various goals both in Italy and abroad. The proposed repertoire includes a highly articulated programme, with pieces ranging from the best-known Christmas carols to songs from the Anglo-American tradition, but also including popular songs in the vernacular. A moment of good music linked to those feelings and sentiments that only choral music and Christmas carols can convey. Guests of the evening will be some young emerging singers from Maestro Christian Cosentino's Music School, who have won important national festivals and contests, including: Francesca Scicchitano, Anna Criniti, Nicola Squillace and Victoria Cosentino, the latter starring in 2018 on RAI 1 at the 61st Zecchino d'Oro with a victory in the social charts and in 2021 on channel 5 at All Together Now Kids.

The artistic direction is entrusted to maestro Christian Cosentino, one of Calabria's musical excellencies, trained in various RAI and Mediaset television programmes with which he has worked and collaborated, after having brilliantly completed his academic studies at the F. Cilea Conservatory of Reggio Calabria, whose professionalism, competence and experience are a guarantee of success.
