Christmas in Sila - The Befana Train

Christmas in Calabria is also experienced on the railway tracks, with a slow and evocative journey to discover the landscapes of the Sila. Tuesday 6 January 2026 sees the return of The Befana Train, the historic itinerary offered by Railtour and Ferrovie della Calabria, a much-anticipated event that closes the festive season with an immersive experience of nature, traditions and taste.

The journey begins at Camigliatello Silano station, from where the vintage train departs to cross the Sila woods. The first stop is the characteristic Sculca station, where a scenic Christmas re-enactment comes to life, animated by the Befana and other characters from local folklore. To make the moment even more special, a tasting of typical products is included in the ticket price. The journey continues to Silvana Mansio, the highest station in Italy, immersed in a silent and fascinating landscape that makes the route even more evocative.
