Autumn Festival | Eastbound - Sounds of the Mediterranean

A unique and original journey to discover the music and instruments of the Mediterranean and to travel as far as the Indian subcontinent. This is the Eastbound project staged by the Alkantara MediOrkestra, the brainchild of Davide Livornese and Riccardo Gerbino in co-production with the Autumn Festival.

The line-up consists of eight musicians who draw on different musical traditions with instruments ranging from the Sicilian marranzano to the rab (the Afghan lute), from wind instruments of various ethnicities to a small string section consisting of double bass, cello and viola, from the bodhrán (the Irish drum) to the tabla (percussion of classical Indian music).

The concert will be enriched by the presence of international musicians and guests: Chrysanthy Gkika and Nektarios Stamatelos. The repertoire consists of compositions from various musical traditions from East to West, to which will be added original pieces by Livornese, Gerbino, Gulisano, Rao- Camemi, Papadopoulos, Gkika, Stamatelos, Brahem and traditional composers.
