The 2025 Autumn Festival brings a world premiere to the stage of the Politeama Theatre in Catanzaro: Cleopatra, the new opera in two acts by Alessandro Meacci, with an original libretto by Marco Maria Tosolini.
Scheduled for 11 October at 9 p.m., the opera offers a new interpretation of the famous Egyptian queen, presented not as a figure shrouded in stereotypes but as a strong, independent and forward-thinking woman. It is a story that becomes a manifesto against reductive narratives and gender stereotypes, restoring Cleopatra's authentic and complex dimension. On stage, the Roma Tre Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Massimiliano Caldi, with an international cast: Jennifer Ciurez (Cleopatra, soprano), Jedrzej Suska (Julius Caesar, baritone), Charles-Isaac Denys (Mark Antony, tenor), Artur Sadlon (Octavian Augustus, tenor), Sara Ghiglia (Octavia Minor, soprano) and Karol Filich (Ptolemy XII, bass). The production is directed by Erica Salbego.
