Allegria Festival

The second edition of the Allegria Festival is an event promoted and conceived by the "Calabria Dietro le Quinte APS" association and the Municipality of Reggio Calabria as part of the "ReggioFest2023: Cultura Diffusa" project.

A rich programme that from 18 November to 30 December 2023 will involve families, young people and children through a succession of evocative and unprecedented live performances. Events with artists, national and international companies (actors, circus performers, puppeteers, musicians and dancers), as well as an interesting educational offer in the various disciplines of the performing arts. The event will be complemented by urban trekking routes and workshops to rediscover the archaeological sites on the outskirts of the city, such as the Collina degli Angeli - Trabocchetto archaeological area and the Pentimele forts.

The initiatives will take place in urban spaces and cultural sites on the outskirts of Reggio Calabria (Gebbione - Santa Caterina - San Brunello - Trabocchetto - Oliveto - Sant'Elia - Rione San Giorgio Extra - Catona - Pentimele) with the intention of creating moments and places for socialising, to enhance the sense of community and territorial identity.

Well-known faces from Cabaret and Stand-up Comedy will perform in theatre spaces in the suburbs: comedian Laura Formenti from Colorado and Comedy Central, with her new show "Drama Queen", Giancarlo Barbara directly from Zelig with the character of film trailers, the comic and visual theatre of actress Roberta Paolini in "Supercasalinga", amidst stains to clean and a house to tidy. The musical show "Homage to Naples" with the Reggio Emilia group "Partenope" and, not to be missed, Christmas events dedicated to children and families with the elf show and the wish balloon by Ciuffo and Pepper, the puppets of Bambabambin Puppet Theatre and Daniela Castiglione's Monster Eater. Involving will be the performances of the street artists "Cantagiro barattoli" with dancing puppets, the bubbles of Mister I, the overwhelming circus of Mister Big Circus, the juggling and fire acts of the Giocolereggio company. And again: theatrical events for children and young people with the show "Little fears for all ages" with the Spazio teatro company and the Collodi fairy tale "A family of Pinocchios" with Neapolitan actor Valerio Apice.
