San Vito sullo Ionio - Regione Calabria

Nestled in the green landscape of the Preserre, San Vito sullo Ionio is one of the hilltop destinations in the province of Catanzaro. Perfect for a slow-paced getaway, the village is a treasure trove of ancient memories, fine craftsmanship and unspoilt nature.

The municipal area of San Vito sullo Ionio is a central stop on the “Kalabria Coast to Coast” path, which was conceived right here.

The short journey from Costa degli Aranci to the village of San Vito sullo Ionio takes you through the fields and olive groves of the Ionian coast of Catanzaro. Once you reach the small historic centre, of Norman origin, you can visit the Mother Church, a few noble palaces, the remains of the ancient castle and a series of mills along the Beltrame stream. From here, you can set off (or continue) on one of the most beautiful regional trails: the “Kalabria Coast to Coast”, which in a few kilometres leads to the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Vibo Valentia.

Among the places not to be missed in San Vito sullo Ionio is the historic “Posella Pipe” workshop, one of the most important pipe makers in the region and guardian of one of the finest crafts in the world. When to visit San Vito sullo Ionio? In August, during the “Sonati Vicìnu” festival, created by the association of local artists of the same name.
