The village of Mino Reitano and the murals of Borgo Croce

Fiumara - Associazione Borgo Croce

The village of Fiumara, in the province of Reggio Calabria, lies at the foot of the Aspromonte National Park and is famous for being the birthplace of singer Mino Reitano.

For some years now, Fiumara has been one of the Calabrian towns revitalised by street art, which has enlivened its houses by writing a new colourful narrative of Borgo Croce!

In Fiumara, as in other sparsely populated towns in inland Calabria, street artists have contributed in recent years to revitalising the town with a series of colourful murals that tell its story. Borgo Croce, the village of murals, is a real gem of street art and one of the most 'Instagrammed' places of the moment!

Divided into hamlets, the main one being San Nicola, Fiumara's historic centre is located in the Terra district, celebrated in several songs by singer-songwriter Mino Reitano, who was born here. Perched on a hill in a panoramic position, the historic centre of Fiumara is home to the ancient Church of the Immaculate Conception, Palazzo dei Catalani and the ruins of Ruffo Castle. In the San Rocco district, in addition to the church of the saint of the same name, you can also find the remains of the former Capuchin Convent, now in disuse.
