Drapia
The terrace of fine wine on the Costa degli Dei

Town
Drapia - Luca Fregola
Those who reach Drapia (Drapìa), in the province of Vibo Valentia, will find a privileged vantage point overlooking the splendid panorama of the "Costa degli Dei" Regional Marine Park.
Drapia, as its name suggests, is an ancient site of Greek-Byzantine origin (8th-10th century), interesting for discovering a glimpse of ancient Calabria, immersed in nature and a slow pace of life.
Traces of the ancient villages and farms that later merged into the municipality of Drapia remain in the place names of the current hamlets of Brattirò (Βριτάριο), Carìa and Gasponi (Χάσπονες). With the arrival of the Normans, the entire area adopted the Latin language and liturgy, to the detriment of the Greek language. Worth visiting are the Church of San Cosma e Damiano and the Church of San Pietro (both in the hamlet of Brattirò). The best time to visit Drapia is on 10 August, during the Wine Festival, when you can taste the main product on which the town's agricultural economy is based: the fine wine of Drapia!
