The territory of Cotronei is immersed in the centuries-old forests of the Sila National Park, in the province of Crotone, among pine, fir and birch trees, on the shores of Lake Ampollino.

Visiting Cotronei means taking a trip on one of the most beautiful Sila lakes and enjoying the local products, surrounded by unspoilt nature. In winter, the hamlet of Trepidò offers the ski lifts of the Palumbosila (Villaggio Palumbo) ski complex, as well as a bobsleigh run and an ice rink.

Among the places to visit in the old town centre is the splendid Church of San Nicola Vescovo, dating back to the 16th century and remodelled over the following centuries up to the characteristic stone façade with columns and central rose window, over which a small bell tower with clock stands.

On the outskirts of Cotronei, it is possible to visit Palazzo Verga, one of Calabria's most beautiful Historic Houses, and the family chapel of the same name, located nearby and part of an interesting itinerary following the traces of the ancient noble family.
